The inspiration behind BitPoker247
Here at BitPoker247, we like to think as ourselves as pioneers. Not of the ‘ride roughshod into the unchartered badlands of the USA with a covered wagon in tow’ variety (though that does sound like fun). But in the ‘see a new tech development and look beyond the code to see the way it can change the way we live’ kind of way. In fact, the phrase ‘early adopter’ could have been (Bit)coined for us.
Back in the day when the internet was the domain of sci-fi role players, dancing babies and conspiracy theorists, we saw its world-changing potential and entered the fray as web developers, keen the push the boundaries of this exciting and unmapped new environment.
When mobiles got smart and transformed themselves from walkie-talkies to handheld computers, we were at the forefront of the app revolution that quite literally changed the way we looked at our phones.
And back in 2008 when a certain Satoshi Nakamoto – a group of digital innovators or elusive genius, depending on who you believe – created the idea of Bitcoin, we were amongst the first to run with the idea of a revolutionary new crypto currency with no borders and no boundaries.
In fact, we soon recognised the value of money that could be exchanged and spent around the world anonymously, wasn’t linked to a government’s economy and didn’t need to go through a costly exchange process to be spent in a different country. We then put our money where our mouth was by taking a big bite of Bitcoin and joining the rapidly growing numbers of like-minded people who began to buy and use this innovative new international currency.
But all work and no play makes Jack a dull boy. When we weren’t busy surfing the wave of digital innovation, we liked to kick back and relax over a few rounds of our favourite online card game, poker.
And it was during one of these after-work sessions that we had our Eureka moment. Why not combine our love of poker and the brilliance of Bitcoin, sprinkle a large helping of our pioneering spirit on the top and create an online gambling community that mixed all three? Because we all know that poker is one of the most enthralling, challenging, exciting and potentially rewarding card games around. Whilst Bitcoin’s ability to smoothly cross borders and be instantly verified, coupled with its inherent security features make it the perfect currency to bring to the online gaming table.
BitPoker 247 was born, and the two things we love the most became the one thing that we love even more – a 24 hour global poker community where people meet to join games of hold ’em, Omaha, Chinese, stud or lowball using Bitcoins to buy their chips and play with like-minded poker players of all abilities.
